9.23上午10点半，利物浦大学工程学部激光工程中心负责人Geoffrey Dearden准教授在我院报告厅做了题为Recent Advances in Laser Engineering的主题报告会。我院胡雪蛟副院长、王建梅、白玉成、夏热等青年教师及部分本科生、研究生参加本次报告会。报告会由胡雪蛟副院长主持。

胡雪蛟副院长首先对Geoffrey Dearden准教授的到来表示了欢迎并介绍了Geoffrey Dearden的学习和工作经历。Geoffrey Dearden1993年自利物浦大学获得PhD学位后一直在利物浦大学工作，在激光研究领域有较高的造诣。

Geoffrey Dearden准教授在报告会上简要介绍了利物浦大学激光工程中心的基本情况，还就激光工程中的主要研究领域激光构件、激光装置开发等方面做了详细的解说。

Geoffrey Dearden简介：Dr Dearden is a Member of the International Editorial Boards of the Journal of Laser Micro/Nano Engineering (since 2006), and the Journal of Optomechatronics (since 2006). International recognition afforded to Dr Dearden includes being appointed session chair at the Laser Micro-Fabrication Conference, International Conference on Lasers in Manufacturing (LIM 2005), Munich, June 2005 and at the Laser Assisted Net-shape Engineering (LANE 2007) International Conference, Erlangen, September 2007. He has presented invited papers at: International Conference on Optics and Photonics (Photon’02), Cardiff, Sept 2002; International Conference on Shipbuilding Applications of Industrial Lasers (SAIL 2003, 2008), Williamsburg, Virginia, June 2003, August 2008; Laser Micro-Fabrication Conference, WLT International Conference Lasers in Manufacturing (LIM 2005), Munich, June 2005. He has over 80 scientific publications, including 30 journal papers, 50+ papers in international conference proceedings and 2 patent applications (1 awarded). He is a member of the Laser Institute of America and the UK Association of Laser Users.
